Trip Report:

The hike begins on what was recently a logging road. After about a mile or so, the trail, while still on a roadbed, loses its second track and becomes more of a typical NW trail. It continues as such until reaching a saddle about 2 miles from the trail head. At this point the trail veers left and begins a series of switchbacks which take you within a half a mile from the summit. From there, you meander back and forth just below the peak until reaching a few stone stairs and shortly beyond that, the rocky summit and 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains.

A few notes about this hike. The grade is excellent. The trail gains about 2150ft over 4 miles (the sign claims 3.5, but the GPS said 4 both ways), but it honestly doesn't feel like it. Also, the trail is in impeccable shape, which is probably a function of its young age. There was only a single tree across the trail and almost no debris, though it did have some mud early on. Finally, this is a very dog friendly hike. Of the hikers we passed, more than half of them had dogs. We had our 4 legged friend as well, so lots of sniff breaks were taken.

All in all, the round trip took us about 3 hours and was well worth the time, probably not one we will do again anytime soon, but a great hike nonetheless.
